About JETRO Cairo
JETRO, Cairo was first established in 1955 with the aim of promoting trade between Japan and the Middle East. As head office of the Middle East, JETRO, Cairo is in charge of Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Sudan and Yemen. JETRO also has offices in Dubai and Saudi Arabia, both of which contribute to expanding and balancing Japan’s foreign trade. Further, these JETRO offices develop mutually beneficial relationships with Japan’s trade partners, by enthusiastically devising and implementing a wide range of programs based upon thorough research analysis, as well as a comprehensive network coordinating reciprocal interests.
In addition, JETRO is actively involved in helping developing nations to nurture their supporting industries. Inclusive of such efforts is promoting cooperation between industries in Japan and other nations, supporting their respective economies, and encouraging international exchange on a variety of levels. JETRO recently merged with the Institute of Developing Economies(IDE), Japan’s largest regional studies organization, in July 1998. Effectively, this has transformed JETRO into a new organization with comprehensive capabilities in trade/investment promotion, as well as in research pertaining to economic and related affairs in developing countries.
All these activities are administered through JETRO’s extensive world wide network, which is comprised of JETRO Headquarters in Tokyo, JETRO Osaka, 36 local offices in Japan and JETRO’s 74 offices in 56 countries.
