BJT Test
The Business Japanese Proficiency Test measures and evaluates one's Japanese communication skills in business situations.

The BJT is eligible for people learning Japanese as a foreign (second) language. It is especially suitable for people engaged in business or students who plan to use their Japanese language skills for business in the future. The test consists of a listening and reading comprehension test (JLRT).
Beginning from 2003, former JETRO Test or BJT has been redesigned from the previous three levels of increasing difficulty to one unified test for all examinees. The BJT will be score-based, similar to the TOEFL and TOEIC language tests (full scores: 800). The scoring system will enable examinees to judge precisely how they perform in each year's test and see their progress by comparing each year's test scores. Also, it is unnecessary for examinees to decide which level to take.

Structure of BJT
The BJT has 2 parts as follows:
1) The Listening and Reading Test (JLRT)
The Test will be held twice a year in June and November in order to provide more chances to the test takers. Previous three levels will be consolidated into one. In addition, the results will no longer be given on a pass/fail basis but will instead provide test takers with a numerical score, similar to TOEIC and TOEFL system.
The JLRT comprehensively evaluates the examinee's skill in using Japanese to deal with a variety of business-related tasks and problems.
| JLRT Details | Numbers of Questions | Time | |
| Listening Test | Description Expression Listening Comprehension | 10 10 15 | 50 min. |
| Listening & Reading Test | Description Listening & Reading Comprehension | 15 15 | 30 min. |
| Reading Test | Grammar& Vocabulary Expression Listening Comprehension | 10 10 15 | 40 min. |
| Total | 100 | 120 min. | |
*Formerly those who pass the 530 points on JLRT qualify, as a general rule, to take the JOCT which is held in Japan (examinees’ own expense).
Further information of JLRT Evaluation Criteria, visit http://www.jetro.go.jp/thailand/e_bjt/pdf/jlrtevacrieng.pdf
2) The Oral Communication Test (JOCT)
The JOCT is an oral test that comprehensively measures and evaluates one's proficiency in using Japanese to communicate. The test is administered orally to each examinee by two testers - one specialized in Japanese language education and the other specialized in Japanese business.
| JOCT Details | Duration | |
| Q & A | Conversation, let by the tester, about the test taker's job and topical subject related to business. Expression Listening Comprehension | 15 min. |
| Role Playing | Role playing in imaginary business situations, including monologues (short speeches, etc), to see how the test takers deal with given tasks and situations. | 15 min. |
The JOCT is evaluated into 6 levels from A+ (excellent) to D (fail).
Application for the JOCT is now closed from 2008. If there is further information, we will notify at JETRO website
